The best thing about this series is that it has a decent premise and well-developed characters. Often when one starts watching this genre, they end up watching a lot of anime that have just cheap tactics to get the viewer’s attention, like making the contents visually vulgar and putting cheap jokes but ‘Hybrid Child’ refrains from doing that. The anime has three romantic stories which deal with artificial beings and their creators. He created a series of dolls called Hybrid Childs, which are neither machines nor humans. These dolls are not only able to experience human emotions but also need them to grow. One story revolves around Kotarou Izumi, a patrician who brings home an abandoned Hybrid Child home. None of his family members supported him in his decision and tried every possible way to get rid of the artificial human. Kotarou does his best to overcome every obstacle, and the love of the human and doll duo stays strong. But everything changes with the realization that hybrid dolls don’t have an endless lifespan. If you want to watch an anime filled with eccentric and wacky comedy, then ‘Patalliro!’ is an excellent choice for you, and the love for shounen-ai anime then just adds to the overall entertainment value. ‘Patalliro!’ is based on a manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Mineo Maya.
